Earthbag Structures

I find the idea of earth-bag, or hemp/bale roundhouses very appealing. Coiled earth bags can make amazing yoda type studio spaces. Several are being built for schools by www.small-earth.com. They were pioneered by iranian Nader Khalili earlier in the 1970s.

 

There are also a surprising number, and a steady trickle, of reciprocal log roofs and turf topped hobbit houses being built in the UK.
